I think that natural steel - meaning that it is oxidized, blends perfectly with nature. To keep the sculptures from rusting away I used cor-ten steel as my material. Alloying elements in this steel, particularly copper, chromium, and nickel produce insoluble compounds that clog the pores at the rust/steel interface, making the material very durable. Only the geometric and mathematical contours of my sculpture form a contrast with the soft shapes of the surrounding natural elements. In the urban cityscape more is needed to achieve the necessary contrast. See for this my sculpture, "Marconi Waltz - homage to Oud and van Doesburg"
